Camp review: which tent is the best in Serengeti?

Many camps offer delightful Eco-friendly tented havens nestled in the heart of the Central Serengeti National Park. However, Shuhudia Adventure Camp pride themselves on providing a personalized and intimate level of comfort to ensure safari experiences. My three days tent stay was unique. Here are the many reasons you should go there.

It is a place for visitors to immerse themselves in the breathtaking panoramas of the Serengeti. It is where the legendary “Great Migration” takes place, alongside a thriving abundance of wildlife. Their tented safari camp offers a harmonious blend of seclusion and remarkable game viewing opportunities, all wrapped up in an unparalleled luxury experience.

Let the allure of the Serengeti surround you as you unwind in the embrace of the extraordinary Shuhudia Adventure Camp. Experience the raw beauty of nature while relishing the elegant luxuries that make your stay with us an unforgettable memory. Welcome to your safari dream come true!

    What is outside the tent?

The tents at Shuhudia Adventure Camp are designed with thick materials, providing a cozy and private ambiance within. Although the thick walls make it impossible to see outside, fret not, as they have incorporated a net-like window that is opened every morning by their attentive staff members. This allows the gentle breeze and warm sunlight to gracefully filter into the bedroom, creating a refreshing and delightful atmosphere.

To further enhance the comfort, a camp armchair is thoughtfully placed in front of each tent, inviting guests to bask in the natural beauty that surrounds them. I didn’t have many days to sit there but we were told not to sit out there alone at night because we were in the wild. So whether you wish to immerse yourself in a captivating book, embrace the tranquility of the Serengeti, or simply revel in the serene surroundings, the camp armchair provides the perfect spot to do so.

Indeed, each tent at Shuhudia Adventure Camp is uniquely distinguished by a signboard and a specific name, ensuring easy identification and adding a touch of personalization to your stay. Despite the tents’ dark forest green color, the clear signage and individual names make it convenient to locate your designated home-away-from-home amidst the picturesque surroundings. My tent was Nyasa, the first one behind the grassy parking lot.

As for the tent entry, the front door features a large zipper for convenient access. While this design allows for easy entry and exit, it aids privacy and security.

How does the tent look inside?

As soon as I stepped into my tent, I was captivated by the enchanting African decor and style, thoughtfully designed to provide guests with a sanctuary of utmost comfort and tranquility. I like those zebra designs.

There were many tents, those vailable in singles, twins, and doubles. Each featuring inviting furniture, a private terrace, and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom. I stayed in a big tent for doubles because my cousin booked it that way.

    My funny experience

On the first night of my stay at Shuhudia Adventure Camp, an unexpected encounter with what sounded like an elephant left me in a state of terror. The unsettling shaking of buckets at the back of my tent sent shivers down my spine. Frantically, I attempted to call the camp staff using the provided walkie-talkie phone, seeking reassurance and assistance. However, there was no immediate response, and my fear intensified.

Thankfully, the restaurant’s proximity allowed me to access the internet in my tent, and I quickly connected with my sister via WhatsApp. Our lengthy conversation brought a sense of comfort and distraction, helping to pass the restless hours as I grappled with the nerves and unease caused by the encounter.

Though I struggled to find sleep that night, I finally managed to calm my anxious mind by softly talking to myself and rationalizing that it was a natural occurrence in the wild. While it was a terrifying experience at the time, it soon became a humorous anecdote that we shared the following day. I discovered that such encounters with animals were relatively common during the night hours, adding a touch of adventure and excitement to the overall experience.

Now, looking back, I can’t help but laugh at my initial reaction, realizing that it was all part of the extraordinary wilderness encounter that Shuhudia Adventure Camp had to offer. It’s these unforgettable moments, even if daunting at the time, that make each safari adventure truly unique and cherished in our memories. The tent was thick so nothing could happen but I was still scared.

What is in the public toilet and inside bathroom/toilet?

Upon our arrival at night, the chilly air embraced us, and I anticipated a rather cold start to my stay. However, my surprise knew no bounds when the attentive staff at Shuhudia Adventure Camp promptly provided hot water for my tent’s bathroom. I was left in awe, wondering how this magical feat was accomplished. To this day, the mystery lingers, as I never laid eyes on a hot water tank or any traditional heating system.

Little did I know that the camp’s technology held a secret: a remarkable system that ensures warm water flows effortlessly into the bathroom each evening within a matter of minutes. It was a marvel to experience such thoughtful and advanced amenities that seamlessly blend comfort and convenience.

The warmth that enveloped me, both physically and metaphorically, during my stay at Shuhudia Adventure Camp is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of the staff. Their commitment to providing an extraordinary and unforgettable experience leaves a lasting impression, making each moment cherished and treasured.

As I reminisce about my time at the camp, the memories of that pleasantly warm bathroom and the hospitality of the staff fill my heart with gratitude. It’s the little details and thoughtful touches that make Shuhudia Adventure Camp an exceptional destination, one where comfort, technology, and nature harmoniously come together to create a truly extraordinary stay.

There bathroom is equipped with a wardrobe, a safari bucket shower, a hand wash basin, and a flush toilet. It really ensured my utmost convenience and relaxation. I heard they could arrange triple tents for special requests.

At the main entrance of the entire camp, there is also a public toilet. It has everything you will expect to see in a normal toilet, except it is a tent.

    How was the tent restaurant?

The restaurant at Shuhudia Adventure Camp was a grand sight to behold, boasting the largest tent on the premises. Its elongated structure included a charming terrace section. The terrace has cozy armchairs, creating a perfect spot for guests to unwind and relax. I cherished spending my evenings there, finding solace in the tranquility while indulging in writing. However, as dusk approached, the allure of wild animals in the vicinity made it necessary to go inside for safety.

The safety of the guests was a top priority. All the staff took every precaution to ensure our well-being. They remained vigilant and present at all times. At night, they used special flashlights to assist guests who needed to return to their rooms after nightfall. Their knowledge of wildlife and quick response skills added an extra layer of reassurance. That gave us a sense of security without being intrusive.

The restaurant’s buffet offerings for both breakfast and dinner were an absolute delight. It cateried to a variety of healthy and delectable choices. Each meal was a culinary delight, leaving me thoroughly satisfied with an array of scrumptious dishes to relish. Even after dinner, the ambiance enticed guests to linger, fostering a warm atmosphere that encouraged chitchat and camaraderie among everyone present. Our tour guide became a delightful companion as we engaged in games and shared captivating stories.

Once again, the whimsical zebra decorations adorned the restaurant. It infused the space with a vibrant energy and a touch of African charm. It was indeed the heart of the camp, a place where delightful moments were shared, laughter echoed, and unforgettable memories were etched into our hearts.

    Rich and Poor

Who are the rich and poor?

I am up at the highest floor of my condominium.

We use the air conditioner to cool the heat.

I can chill with Netflix at a finger snap.

I happily take naps on the comfy sofa.

Just 2 steps down my gate.

I see them with bare chests and skinny shorts fighting the heat.

They sat playing games, laughing, in front of the house.

There was no soft chair as I peeped in their living room.

In 5 minutes, my electric cooker boils the food.

The tiles glitters as I use a vacuum to clean them.

My private restroom has hot water boiler.

I don’t want to wake up from the thick mattress.

I see them carrying wood to cook.

Their living room floor is bare ground full of jigger worms.

They need to use a bucket with diluted water in the toilet-seatless bathroom.

Their bones embrace the bed planks because of the thinness of the mattress.

What is there alike between these two worlds?

Struggle and enjoyment, strangely sharing the same land area.

The one thing is they are all humans.

God loves the poor and rich the same way.

    Background of this poem.

During my holiday in Cebu, Philippines, I rented a luxurious studio in a condominium that catered to all my needs. However, as I strolled through the neighborhood, I couldn’t help but notice the striking contrast between the opulence of my surroundings and the evident low-income living conditions of the local residents. From my room balcony, I looked down upon a sea of brown, rusted zinc houses, haphazardly built in a disorganized manner.

While the children from the area contentedly swam in the dirty sea water of their modest community, the kids at the condominium enjoyed their days playing basketball and swimming in the expansive pool. This stark disparity reminded me of my own humble beginnings, living in a simple wooden house with uncemented floors. I vividly recalled the times we cried when our caring Mama gently removed jigger worms from our toes.

Today, by the grace of God, my life has taken a different turn. I am now able to travel abroad and enjoy an abundant life, living in a comfortable cemented house equipped with various amenities. This transformation has humbled me, as I recognize the blessings that have come my way.

My experiences in Cebu have served as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and gratitude. Witnessing the realities of others has given me a newfound appreciation for the opportunities I have been afforded. As I continue my journey, I aim to remain compassionate and use my blessings to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Bible verse of rich and poor

    Proverbs 22:2

“The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all.”

    1 Timothy 6:17-18

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”

    Proverbs 19:17

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”

    Isaiah 41:17

“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

     1 John 3:17

“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”

    Hebrews 13:16

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
