    The Fixer Fixing

    Am not fixing anyone.

    I cannot fix anybody.

Everyone knows how to fix themselves.

Everyone can fix themselves when they want , not when we speak.

    Fixing is a personal choice.

Don’t pressure anyone to fix themself.

    Fix yourself first.

What do you need fixing with?

We need a lot of time to fix everything.

Can we really fix every aspect?

To add, don’t we all want to be fixed people?

And we enjoy fixing others everyday.

If we had the chance, we will recommend fixes for everything.

But how patient are we for those things which take time to fix?

    Try to fix yourself first.

Fixing is supposed to be a daily aspect.

we can never become completely fixed physically.

No matter how mych effort we invest to fix ourselves.

We would only be able to do it with help.

Who do you consider your fixer?

As for me, my FIXER is GOD alone.

He has fixed several parts of me.

We expect fixed people around us.

We know it is great to be fixed.

Still, no matter how many times we try to fix ourselves.

We will never reach the full expectation.

In addition, fixing is a lifetime process.

Progress and growth are typically not obvious.

This and many other poems on my blog form a part of a collection to be published.

    Success: God’s Definition

    Success!

Success is a person, some say.

It’s interwoven in the Almighty God.

A loving Father in heaven who gave to all men.

We don’t see him because we don’t know or welcomed him.

Success is a relationship with God.

It spins limitlessly when we submit our lives to God’s Word.

    Failure!

Common antonym for not being successful.

Generally used as a synonym for something wrong.

Mainly connected to mistakes we all make.

Captioned as the wilful error we cannot avoid.

    Nicknamed Satan’s tool for depression.

Stigma for people who misuse their talents

    Associated and tangled with laziness.

    Victory!

Famous is the opposite of failure.

Reputed to mean the same as excelling.

Mostly implied progress in one area of life.

Talked of as the only way by some.

How many have obtained it? Uncountable.

Is it a brand name for those who use their gifts?

    Intertwined with productivity, many argue.

    Prosperity!

It is not dependent on material possessions.

Human intellect or career profile doesn’t define it.

It’s not based on family or marital status.

It has little to do with societal or political influence.

It’s not entirely connected to human efforts or thoughts.

It’s commonly tied to financial or economic growth.

It has no link with a healthy lifestyle.

    Success Bible Verses

    Genesis 39:2-6

The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did,

Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.

From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.

So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome.

    Joshua 1:8

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

    Rich and Poor

Who are the rich and poor?

I am up at the highest floor of my condominium.

We use the air conditioner to cool the heat.

I can chill with Netflix at a finger snap.

I happily take naps on the comfy sofa.

Just 2 steps down my gate.

I see them with bare chests and skinny shorts fighting the heat.

They sat playing games, laughing, in front of the house.

There was no soft chair as I peeped in their living room.

In 5 minutes, my electric cooker boils the food.

The tiles glitters as I use a vacuum to clean them.

My private restroom has hot water boiler.

I don’t want to wake up from the thick mattress.

I see them carrying wood to cook.

Their living room floor is bare ground full of jigger worms.

They need to use a bucket with diluted water in the toilet-seatless bathroom.

Their bones embrace the bed planks because of the thinness of the mattress.

What is there alike between these two worlds?

Struggle and enjoyment, strangely sharing the same land area.

The one thing is they are all humans.

God loves the poor and rich the same way.

    Background of this poem.

During my holiday in Cebu, Philippines, I rented a luxurious studio in a condominium that catered to all my needs. However, as I strolled through the neighborhood, I couldn’t help but notice the striking contrast between the opulence of my surroundings and the evident low-income living conditions of the local residents. From my room balcony, I looked down upon a sea of brown, rusted zinc houses, haphazardly built in a disorganized manner.

While the children from the area contentedly swam in the dirty sea water of their modest community, the kids at the condominium enjoyed their days playing basketball and swimming in the expansive pool. This stark disparity reminded me of my own humble beginnings, living in a simple wooden house with uncemented floors. I vividly recalled the times we cried when our caring Mama gently removed jigger worms from our toes.

Today, by the grace of God, my life has taken a different turn. I am now able to travel abroad and enjoy an abundant life, living in a comfortable cemented house equipped with various amenities. This transformation has humbled me, as I recognize the blessings that have come my way.

My experiences in Cebu have served as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and gratitude. Witnessing the realities of others has given me a newfound appreciation for the opportunities I have been afforded. As I continue my journey, I aim to remain compassionate and use my blessings to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Bible verse of rich and poor

    Proverbs 22:2

“The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all.”

    1 Timothy 6:17-18

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”

    Proverbs 19:17

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”

    Isaiah 41:17

“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

     1 John 3:17

“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”

    Hebrews 13:16

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

    Hope Away from Home

Where is home, you ask? Home varies for each soul, In our tumultuous journey, footsteps taking their toll.

Running through the night, on foot, and crowded buses we’d ride, Along lonely forest roads, fear and despair by our side.

Escaping from death’s grip and the torment we bore, To a foreign land, survival unknown, our hearts sore.

But you, with open arms, welcomed us like a newborn’s birth, Granting us hope, a lifeline, on this unfamiliar earth.

Side by side, we attend schools, education our common creed, No barriers or borders, fulfilling our every need.

In your neighborhoods, we reside, forging bonds that twine, Relationships strong, like twins, transcending space and time.

Language programs provided, a bridge to integration, Enabling us to find our place with ease, no separation.

Gratitude overflows for the hope you’ve bestowed, In this land away from home, our gratitude echoed.

Jobless, yet you allowed us to pursue our dreams, Opening businesses, life flowing in vibrant streams.

No longer hungry, our bellies full, worries cast aside, For you ensure no hunger storms, our needs you provide.

In your hospitals, a sanctuary, our bodies find care, With doors never closing, compassion always there.

Healthy and strong, we emerge from each healing dome, Thankful for hope, nurtured in this land, our new home.

Where is home? It’s the embrace of a compassionate heart, The haven of acceptance, where new lives can restart.

In your kindness and generosity, our hope forever blooms, For this land, away from home, is where our spirit consumes.

What kind of home can we give to refugees?

The post-trauma therapy, a priceless treasure we found, What more could we ask for, on healing’s sacred ground?

Your financial gifts, a lifeline to begin anew, Without your benevolence, where would we have ventured to?

The church’s friendly support, a beacon of light, A memory etched deeply, never fading from sight.

For showing us hope, away from our homeland’s shore, We hold deep gratitude, forever and more.

When we arrived, naked and weary, you clothed us with care, Plates of delicious nourishment, a feast we could share.

Your constant visits to our new homes, a gentle embrace, Instilling in us a sense of humanity and grace.

Those days spent in your homes, despite colors of skin, Bound by love and acceptance, where new stories begin.

For these memories, eternally cherished, never to fade, We thank you sincerely for the hope you displayed.

Foreign policies opened gates, an honored privilege bestowed, Freedom and peace regained, a sanctuary to unfold.

With each step we take, unburdened by fear’s cruel dome, We journey forth, empowered, with hope away from home.

Acts of generosity, woven like tattoos on our souls, Engraved in our minds, as future generations’ scrolls.

We cannot repay your kindness, though we make a pledge, To honor and respect your rules, our hearts solemnly allege.

In parting, our words resound, our voices ring clear, You’ve shown us hope away from home, casting away all fear.

For the gifts you’ve given, we’ll forever hold dear, Grateful for the love and hope that will always persevere.

    Mountain Majesty

Have you been to a mountain?

Pilling on each other, they don’t complain

Trying to hold each other firm seems to be the plan.

One would think they are brothers from birth, but they aren’t.

I speak of the big and small rocks up the mountain.

Deep down, they have become small lakes.

A refreshing habit for many living species around.

Their shapes and sizes are awkward and cannot become swimming pools.

I speak of the mountain craters.

The gray ash piles up when the explosion begins, till it’s tired.

It cools after a year or more into a hip, forming gigantic hills.

Its heat melts down everything to create a way.

I speak of the mountain volcanic lava.

People use ropes to climb to the top these days.

Others dare without anything until they are the top.

You would imagine the cold above should frighten people.

Yet it was there in prayers that God gave Moses his word.

    Bible verses about a mountain

God used a mountain from Jesus’death to when he gave Moses the ten commandments to demonstrate his great. The greatness of their height and structure is a physical proof of how incomprehensible God is. In the entire Bible, he uses them to demonstrate his power and grace.

    Mathew 14:23

After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,

    1 Corinthians 13:2

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

    Isaiah 2:2

In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.

    Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

    Isaiah 54:10

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

    Mark 11:23

“TrulyI tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

    Zechariah 4:7

“What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’ ”

    Psalms 121:1-2

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

    Psalms 95:1-5

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

    Psalms 104:5-9

He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them. You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.

    Perfect or imperfect

It’s been said no one is perfect.

I said it countless times, too.

Part of me was not willing to accept l could be faultless.

The other part didn’t know l was.

I see your surprised face now.

Did your lips just open to ask, how is she superb?

Your heart said she is proud to think she’s.

Before your mouth curses me, you are also perfect.

So we are all perfectly made by God?

Yes, we who believe in Christ have been made perfected by His love.

This perfection is not by our making.

It’s a rare gift from our Saviour on the cross.

Now we can boast only via His mighty Name.

By His precious blood, perfection has embraced us so tight we cannot separate.

We cannot do anything to earn it.

Another unique name for it is Grace.

The only way to receive that perfection is through thanksgiving.

We can only be convicted of this reality by revelation from the Holy Spirit.

Mental acceptance is insufficient to receive this high status.

Celebrate our flawless Gift, Jesus Christ.

Bible verses about us being perfect in Christ

    James 3:2

We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

    Mathew 19:21

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

    Hebrew 10:14

For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

    Hebrew 2:10

In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.

     I couldn’t force it

In many ways, l tried to force it.

I thought talking to him regularly would be fine.

But l found out he didn’t like my voice.

He hated me so badly, l wondered why.

Every time l did something good, l thought it could force it.

But my actions were quickly mistaken for evil.

Even when l explained how truthful l meant.

His hatred seems to grow deeper like roots.

I don’t think l can ever please him.

As ages pass, l notice he is not interested in anything l do.

I never get applause from him.

I doubt if this hatred will ever end.

People say time can take the pain away if we force it to go.

Why is mine always scratched and refreshed every time l try to talk?

Does it even matter to say l bear his DNA?

If nothing is alike in us?

I rather stick to my heavenly Father.

He knows my name and hears all my cries.

Every time l call upon him, he is available.

I choose to depend on him because he will never leave me.

    Bible verses

    Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

    Colossians 3:21

Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

    Valleys

Deep down the valleys, we all think there’s no life.

    There’s life everywhere.

In some valleys there are herbs.

Others have small streams and reptiles.

Though no one wants to stay there, it’s a place everyone has visited.

Both the dead and living have valley stories.

Some have been more than 10 times in their lives.

We all must go down the valley at some point in our lives.

Whenever you are there, don’t doubt your God.

Job refused to curse God, as his wife advised him in his valley days.

Whether we like it or not, valley days will come and go.

They are temporal testing days for our faith.

If you are in the valley now, choose Thanksgiving over a complaint.

What do valleys mean in the Bible?

Valleys are used in the Bible to symbolize the places some people lived. God directed some to live there, while others lived there for safety. They lived there only for a while. No matter what you are experiencing today, remember that it will not be forever. You are victorious even in that trial because God is good.

    Psalm 65:13

The meadows are clothed with flocks
    And the valleys are covered with grain;
They shout for joy, yes, they sing.

    Joshua 17:16

The sons of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley land have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.”

    Judges 18:28

And there was no one to deliver them, because it was far from Sidon and they had no dealings with anyone, and it was in the valley which is near Beth-rehob. And they rebuilt the city and lived in it.

    1 Chronicles 12:14-15

These of the sons of Gad were captains of the army; he who was least was equal to a hundred and the greatest to a thousand. These are the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month when it was overflowing all its banks and they put to flight all those in the valleys, both to the east and to the west.

    Judges 7:8-12

So the 300 men took the people’s provisions and their trumpets into their hands. And Gideon sent all the other men of Israel, each to his tent, but retained the 300 men; and the camp of Midian was below him in the valley. Now the same night it came about that the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have given it into your hands. But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp…

    Joel 3:14

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

Why should you be calm in the valley?

    Ezekiel 37:1-14

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry. He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, You know.

    Joel 3:1-2
“For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will gather all the nations
And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat.
Then I will enter into judgment with them there
On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,
    Whom they have scattered among the nations;
And they have divided up My land.

    Luke 3:4-5

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
‘Make ready the way of the Lord,
    Make His paths straight.
    ‘Every ravine will be filled,
    And every mountain and hill will be brought low;
    The crooked will become straight,
    And the rough roads smooth;

    Psalm 23:4

    The silent talker

    Who is a silent talker?

    I might not talk.

All-day long quiet in my room.

    Rarely opening the door.

    Don’t think l cannot talk.

Every time I enjoy the silence.

    Reflective thoughts overshadow my mind.

    My thinking brain works double.

No one can guess why l am silent.

    Yes, l want to talk.

Yet, l have no one around me.

I put my words down in paper.

If you like, come let us talk.

    Though some misunderstand my silence.

A few understand l am thinking.

I love to share my many reasons.

But time and audience are absent, thus l am silent.

    Who said we must talk?

    Sometimes, we must shut up.

Wiseman Solomon said there is talking time.

He adds, we must respect the time to be silent.

You know peace only when you know when to talk.

Some say being silent is a way to prevent trouble.

Choosing not ot speak is proof of prudence.

People mistake fools for wise people if they know how to maintain their silence.

    Bible verses about being silent

    Ecclesiastes 9:17

The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.

    Ecclesiastes 3:7-8

There is a time to tear cloth and a time to sew it. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. There is a time to love and a time to hate. There is a time for war and a time for peace.

     Proverbs 17:28

Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.

     Proverbs 10:19

Transgression is at work where people talk too much, but anyone who holds his tongue is prudent.

     Proverbs 21:23

Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

    The life school

The school of life is for everyone.

We all wear uniforms every day.

Some silently fail and hide the results.

Others broadcast their failures and successes.

Some condemn and focus on others’ failures.

Others choose to celebrate all seasons.

    Some support only during successes.

Others pretend to support only if they can control.

Some just want to manipulate others.

    No one knows it all.

    Give room for others’ growth.

The life school of God is a journey.

    Bible verses about school

    Acts 22:3

“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. Thus I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.

    2 Timothy 2 :20-21

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

    Psalms 78: 5-8

He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.

    Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

    Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
