Find Rest in the Father’s Love

Did you know God’s original plan for our lives is for us to rest like he rested? Our father’s love is beyond human comprehension. He has set the example.

Here’s a deep summary of how you can rest according Pastor Joseph Prince.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

    Isaiah 54:10 NIV

I want to give you a simple but critical truth. Memorize this truth. Feed on it. Let it take root in your spirit and become an anchor in your life. You will never be the same again.

Are you ready? Here it goes:

As a child of God, no matter what happens in your life, your Father in heaven loves you dearly and nothing you do can ever change that.

Will you believe that today? Whether you are going through good times or facing challenging times, you need to know that your Abba loves you.

There is nothing that you can ever do to make Him love you more, and nothing that you can ever do to make Him love you less. Even—or perhaps especially—when you feel like you have failed, know that you will always be the apple of His eye. Always.

God loves you with an everlasting love (Jer. 31:3). A love that is the same yesterday, today, forever.

Feel your Daddy God enfolding you in His embrace right now. You are safe. You are utterly loved and completely accepted.

He loved you before you ever knew Him. His love for you has nothing to do with anything that you have done for Him. Nothing you do will ever affect His unwavering, unconditional love for you.

Did you know our father’s love is unconditionally.

There is nothing for you to prove. You only need to rest and receive your Abba’s love. Let your life become established and grounded in a love that is so perfect that no challenge or adversity will be able to knock you down.

If you think that you’ve messed up, turn to your Father. In His loving arms you will find hope, security, and refuge from any storm.

I love how the apostle Paul puts it: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? . . . Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:35, 37–39).

Beloved, there are no caveats or disclaimers when it comes to the love of your heavenly Father. The Bible plainly states that nothing shall be able to separate you from the love of your Father in heaven. It’s an absolute declaration and promise.

“Nothing” means nothing. As a believer, this means that even your mistakes, failings, and sins cannot separate you from the love of your Father. Hallelujah!

If you didn’t know, now you know. Our Father’s love for us has been there since the foundation of the world.

Unveiling the Heart of the Father

“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. . . . But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

    Luke 15:20, 22–24

One of the most beautiful parables in the Bible is the parable of the father of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11–32). Many commentators call this the parable of the prodigal son. But the real hero of this story is the father and his love for his two sons. It’s a parable that Jesus used to skillfully unveil to us the true heart of our gracious God. It shows how loving our heavenly Father is.

Why should you read the parable of the prodigal son?

Please take a few minutes to read through the full parable. As you read through it, consider this: What is your opinion of God, especially when you’ve made a mistake? Do you see Him as an all-powerful, distant, and unfeeling judge? The one who is angry whenever you fail and who constantly has to be appeased?

Or do you know Him as your Daddy? Your Abba Father whom you can run to anytime, even when you have fallen short? Do you see Him as unwaveringly and patiently waiting for you to return to Him. And then racing down the road to meet you with tears streaming down His face. Also embracing you, and raining His kisses upon you?

As I was studying the Word, the Lord revealed to me that many believers have come to a place where they have forgotten their heavenly Father. They have forgotten about His love, His grace, and His loving-kindness.

Do you see God as your father?

They relate to God in a judicial and transactional fashion. That is they come before Him with apprehension and trepidation, presenting their failings to Him. Then they quickly leave before they get the punishment and condemnation they think they rightly deserve from Him.

They perceive Him exclusively as a God of holiness, judgment, and justice. That is, his face steely and stern, His mighty arms folded in dissatisfaction and disapproval. Equally, they see a God who is easily displeased, quick to anger, perpetually disappointed with them, and waiting impatiently to be placated.

This wrong belief of who God really is has driven many into fear, guilt, depression, and insecurity. And that is why it’s so vital we see the heart of the Father as unveiled by Jesus in this timeless parable.

Beloved, do you see His heart of love for you? There is a vacuum in our hearts that can only be filled by the Father’s love. I believe that if you would allow the Father to come into your heart today and fill you up with His perfect love, you will find the joy, confidence, fulfillment, and freedom that you have been looking for in life.

    Grandpa Timti’s Protection Story

Grandpa Timti loved going on evening walks with his grandson, Timti Junior. Every weekend, they would walk really far from home, more than 10 kilometers!

Timti Jr. enjoyed these walks a lot because he could ask Grandpa so many questions. And guess what? Each time they went for a walk, Grandpa would tell him a cool story from a special book called the Bible.

Timti Jr. would listen quietly and sometimes, he would tell his friends the story at school the next day. It was like their special secret.

But one August day in 2022, something different happened. They left their house when the sun was shining so bright. But after they had been walking for about 20 minutes, rain suddenly started pouring down from the sky! And guess what? Neither Grandpa nor Timti had an umbrella or a raincoat!

They had to quickly run to a huge oak tree beside the path they were walking on. This tree was super big and super old, with lots of branches and leaves. It was like a big umbrella that kept them dry for a little while.

Timti looked surprised and asked Grandpa why the rain wasn’t touching them under the tree. Grandpa Timti smiled and told him that it’s because of how old and big the leaves on the tree are. He said it’s like the tree was protecting them.

Suddenly, Grandpa started telling Timti a special story about a person named David. David was a friend of God, and he knew that God could protect him no matter what. Grandpa even shared some words from a special book called Psalm 91. It said that if we stay close to God, He will keep us safe like in a secret hiding place.

Grandpa told Timti that he should talk to God every day and ask Him for protection. From that day on, Timti decided that every morning when he wakes up, he will remember to ask God to keep him safe.

And that’s the story of how Timti learned about God’s protection from his grandpa during one rainy walk under a big, old tree.
